Bergman Academy has had the opportunity to host a middle scholar (6th-8th) mock trial program for the past four years thanks to parent coaches, family support, and student participation. Bergman is happy to announce that the fifth season will begin with try outs on Sunday, October 3rd at 6:00 pm at Bergman Academy. (The ending time is TBD as it is dependent on the number of students who plan to try out.)
After tryouts, information regarding practices and the competition will be sent to participants’ families. In past years, the mock trial team has practiced multiple days a week (before school and Sunday evenings). Additionally, the season culminates with regional competitions in early/mid-November and state competition in early December. This year the specific dates and times have not been released, but the competitions will be held in person.
Please take all of this information into consideration as it is a significant time commitment, yet the time spend is always rewarding as the students learn more about teamwork, public speaking, and the legal system throughout the mock trial process.
