Building Guest Teacher

At Bergman Academy, our mission is to provide an environment that nurtures total development while guiding students toward the joy of lifelong learning. Our dedicated, enthusiastic teachers lead classrooms in quality lessons each day in a relationship-oriented environment. When a teacher has need to be gone from the building, we rely on a skilled substitute to fill in. Bergman Academy is currently looking for an engaging, reliable, and mission-driven Building Guest (Substitute) Teacher. This is a full-time position.

 

In this role, the Building Guest Teacher will cover for an absent full-time teacher, adhering to the day’s lesson plan and ensuring that students have a fulfilling learning experience. On days when a substitute position is not needed, the Building Guest Teacher will assist with coverages and tasks in the building to support the mission and goals of the school. The ideal candidate will have an Iowa Teaching License or Iowa Substitute Teaching Authorization, teaching experience through substitute teaching, classroom teaching, or through a teacher preparation program, and the ability to lead classrooms effectively. An option to lead our Before Care program from 7:20-8:15am for an additional stipend is available. Recent graduates are invited and encouraged to apply.

 

Primary Objectives of this Role

• Execute lesson plans consistent with teacher guidelines, classroom expectations, and school curriculum.

• Establish an orderly classroom environment and provide a positive learning experience for all students.

• Become familiar with school emergency protocols.

• Adhere to all school policies and procedures.

• Exhibit flexibility and patience in scheduling.

• Demonstrate confidence and proficiency in giving instruction.

• Have superb verbal and written communication skills.

• Support the mission and goals of the school by providing classroom guest teacher coverage and assisting with other work in the building when substitute coverage is not needed.
